World Chess Champion Magnus Carlsen tops the field for the Airthings Masters, the 2nd stage of the Champions Chess Tour. The 12-player event will be played online on chess24 from December 26th to January 3rd and, as the first Major of the tour, features a $200,000 prize fund with $60,000 for 1st place. The winner also qualifies directly to the Grand Final in September 2021.
The tournament starts with a 3-day preliminary stage where the players play each other once before the top 8 go forward to a knockout. The time control is 15 minutes for all moves, with a 10-second increment from move 1. No draw offers are allowed before move 40. Official website: championschesstour.com

Anyone think about sac Knight by Kg6 at 4:43 ? Maybe in one alternate universe that Magnus accepts with pawn capture then hxg6 recapture, Bxh6 then fxh6, Rxh6 , Rxh6 then Qxh6 White end ups with a passed pawn and the queen on the kings side

Carlsen failed almost the same way in which a neural network engine fails :D Dubov pushed the game to a state outside of the "training data". 99% of players would never have found that pawn move so Carlsen probably just didn't factor it in.

I have recently kept playing lost positions like a stubborn 3 year old. And it is good practise. Every now and then you get a stalemate or find a draw some other way. Unless you are afraid to get frowned upon. U find the most annoying move - and that is good practise. Yes, you do also win some games by flagging.
