I just don’t understand how anyone could catch onto a killer who leaves zero, ZERO evidence that could logically link to a killer. There, is, no, evidence. You could kill the person closest to you and what are the cops going to say. “He must have a magic book.” What?? Lmfao you wouldn’t get caught unless the universe believed in magic. I would just make sure the book is hidden. No one would think to look for a book cause books can’t kill people. Get it? The only way they would look for a book is if you beat someone with it and the autopsy identified the wounds as cause by something like a book. Is there even a law that specifies death by magic?

Really if you think about it you can get away with killing criminals without getting caught..just don't kill 50 of them per week,maybe 3 per week and make it seem as random as possible and maybe learn more about the person you kill they might have depression,they might be doing something thats risky and puts their life in danger,they might be sick,they might have enemies etc. You can make it seem as if all of its just chance and no one is behind it...

The deathnote says if you control someone to where it results in another's death, the written name victim will just have a heart attack instead. Otherwise it'd be way too broken. Having one cop decently armed, with all his knowledge, you'd just write, going into a tactical craze where, they tried to preserve their own life, hide evidence, and stealthily kill until the 2 days are up. You can do multiple at once, and write it so they work together. You can just form a tiny army for a short period, and after that much destruction, you wouldn't have enough cops to be able to investigate evidence and clues in a timely enough manner for the needed accuracy to catch a kira. The only counter that'd force you to get Shinigami eye's if a child was named at birth, and everyone in the world kept no reccord and every single person wore full time masks and fake names. But then you'd have criminals taking masks off to sell pictures of faces at the very least. It'd be interesting, but totally ruins the mystery/detective theme of the show and concept.

My take on how to use the Death Note the right way: 1. Preparations: Read through all the rules and make sure you understand them properly before anything else. Best memorize them too. Also, before you proceed, make sure you yourself are willing to go through with committing murder. If you aren't you'd do best to lock away the Death Note in a safe place, so no one else can get to it and use it to kill. Alternatively, you could try destroying it to prevent its use. 2. Testing the note: Test if the book is real by killing someone unrelated to you who is either about to die soon or irredeemable, at best both (f.e. a serial killer on death row who has been proven guilty, a known terrorist or dictator whose death would surely make the news). The main issue here is to choose someone whose death you can 1. verify yourself (so f.e. the criminal should be someone whose case has been on the news before) and 2. is going to cause you the least psychological damage (f.e. I'd feel too much guilt for killing off an old person who's completely innocent as suggested in the video, so I'd choose someone I'd feel the least remorse for for killing). 3. Approach and precautions: Now that you know that the Death Note is real, you must decide on your philosophy going forward. If you are unwilling to kill any more people, go back to step one and hide or destroy the note. If you are unable to live with yourself, knowing you have taken a life, make sure to get rid of the book for good or hide it, so no one can find and misuse it, before taking your own life. You might be able to exploit the note's conditions for doing so as well as choosing how you will die (and that it's as short and painless as possible). If you, however, are willing to kill for whatever reason, be it a sense of justice like Light, vigilante justice like Batman or something selfish like greed or revenge, make sure to take the necessary precautions first. By precautions I mean 1. disguise the note or hide it well so it's never discovered/found on you (Light did a great job on that, I've also seen people suggest disguising it as a diary, complete with fake diary entries, of course without any full names of people mentioned, unless you want to kill them off) 2. decide on whether or not to get Shinigami eyes (depending on what your goal is they can be very useful, I suggest you do it because...) 3. consider writing down your own name, specifying exactly when and how you will die and what you do with the Death Note. While limiting the time in which you can act by cutting short your lifetime (which is why you need to consider Shinigami eyes before that point), this makes you borderline invincible and most importantly unkillable to your enemies. It also guarantees that you are brought to justice in the end and you don't need to kill off any innocents like police or FBI if found out because you prepared for that happening. Of course you will still have to be very careful because if you are found out early you're going to be imprisoned and can't kill more people, plus the Death Note might end up in the wrong hands. This is why I would specify, along with my death, how I get rid of the Death Note before dying, to ensure it is never found by anyone else (keep in mind that the condition needs to be realistic and doable, even in case you get captured by police, else it is all for naught). 4. Kill without being found out: Now, for the killings your method of course depends on what your philosophy is and whether you want people to know someone is killing off bad people (Light's approach) or hide your murders. In the latter case make sure to have the causes of deaths, times of death and the victims vary wildly, with no discernible pattern. The biggest mistake Light makes is giving his victims a common cause of death, ensuring that people, including the police, will soon realize that these deaths aren't random. Of course Light's plan hinges on the fact that he wants people to notice a common denominator behind the deaths and become scared of committing crimes but this is where his approach is flawed. One, human nature won't ever change and thus crime will never die out for good, meaning as soon as Kira's reign ends, which at some point it due to his death and even if he has successors they will eventually fall as every leader/regime is bound to end eventually, then everything will have been for naught. But Light doesn't have the foresight to think this far due to his pride which results in his god complex and ultimately his downfall. Learning from Light's example, the most important part is to prevent the murders from being seen as such. If the killings look like random deaths without any rhyme or reason to them they won't be connected to each other and cannot be traced back to you. So if you kill for justice like Light don't be an arrogant fool, stay hidden by varying your methods as much as possible and protect the note from being found while continuing on with your life as usual. Even if, eventually, it becomes apparent that all the world's criminals are dying there will be no common thread linking the deaths other than bad people dying and that will only be discovered much later, assuming you switch between different countries' criminals and don't start out by killing the most infamous ones. Admittedly it would be difficult to get the criminals' names without Light's background or high-level hacking skills which is why I suggest trading for Shinigami eyes and then scouring the news for pictures of criminals. Getting a job inside the police or acquiring computer skills would be beneficial, alternatively, if you're not above dirtying your hands and compromising your own sense of justice, making some money with your kills (I'm talking about paid assassinations here, the inheritance scheme proposed in the video won't work if you're not plausible to be in that billionaire person's will, you'd only make yourself look very suspicious) and then hiring a hacker and some decoy killers via the deep web might be another, if risky strategy. The personal vendetta approach would be the hardest to not get found out sooner or later because of your connection to the victims. I suggest killing off random criminals in between to distract from the fact that you're killing off people around you. Also, get creative with the causes of death, f.e. make people kill themselves, have them die in accidents, for health-related reasons, really anything that is a plausible cause of death for that specific person, while still painful enough to sate your thirst for revenge. Since you know these people personally it shouldn't be too hard to come up with a matching cause of death that won't arouse suspicion, f.e. a chainsmoker slowly dying of lung cancer, a hobby climber falling to his death or a reckless driver dying in a car crash.
