I never grew up watching Speed racer , nor have watched any episodes but , when I highly enjoyed the live action movie , the wachowskis brought it to life , sad that hardcore speed racers thought it was trash, mixed reviews , but again , I was entertained all the way through.

Almost nothing in Speed Racer is real and you can tell. What's the point of making a racing movie where you can tell the actor's sitting in a non-moving seat on a greenscreen set? Why not make it a full animated movie at that point?

Jackie Chan's 2020 "Vanguard" is packed with really shitty CGI. At least one cringe-worthy effect every 2 minutes. (And a painfully stupid propaganda script on top of that). What a sad way to damage a legacy. :-(

There is a show on Netflix called Hilda. Not sure if it would fall under VFX artists react or animators react. But it is pretty cool and quite beautiful, in my opinion. Like Gravity Falls meets Adventure Time.

Y’all should do an episode on movies from the 90s-early 00s. Jumanji, fifth element, the mummy (the first one), starship troopers, and what dreams may come, are the first that come to mind, but some of my favorite movies came out around this time and watching them now in my 30s, I’m now very impressed by how well they hold up. I believe the movies of today could really learn some things about the power of practical effects mixed with digital effects.
